Filming a Wet & Wild video with the Monger 2

OMG what a knob I am!

I've no idea why I have done this, but I do know it left me teath-chatteringly cold and wet.

So here is the story - a commenter to my Naturehike Monger 2 Long Term Review claimed I was talking BS about how the Monger can be set up fly first if needed (such as in the rain). In fact he seemed really annoyed by my review in general, and being the only negative feedback that video has had to date, I wanted to try and help the guy out, so I responded giving text based instruction on how he might go about setting the Monger up outer first.

His response to my reply was even more irate so I offered to oneway in the future make a video about how to set up the Monger 2 in the rain. And that is what I've done this afternoon.

I set up the Monger 2, in my back garden, in the rain on the 26th of November! And, to draw further attention to the fact that the M2 is not the best option to use in bad weather and that I suggest it best used in the Summer, I wore shorts, t-shirt, sandals and sunglasses while making the vid. I am an idiot!

anyway, that vide is being edited at the moment and I hope to get it out next week. It was fun to make, but later, when all was done I regretted it while freezing my nuts off to transfer the video to my Mac!

Devil's Night Wild Camp at Crowdy Reservoir on Bodmin Moor

Original plans for a halloween camp on Dartmoor with another YouTuber, West Country Wild Camping (Ash) fell through due to last minute complications on my part (sorry Ash). We'd planned a spooky camp near the site of Kitty Jay's Grave (roughly 1 mile North West of Hound Tor) and I was really excited for this camp as it had been in planning for several months and would have been my first camp with Ash who, since starting my channel and Instagram account has fast become a friend, though we have never met in person. Anyhow, with the Halloween camp cancelled I decided to go out the night before, a night often referred to as Devil's Night. Not fancying Kitty Jay's Grave as I figured I'd save that one for next year, I decided upon the site of my very first wild camp back on April 14th of this year, when I camped with my good friend Big Ian at Crowdy Reservoir. It was a very spooky camp, with a strange presence in the night that really spooked me and made me fear going b

Modifying the OEX Phoxx II for and all-in-one pitch

Changing the Phoxx series of tents from OEX to make them pitched inner and outer at the same time is easy. It only takes a few minutes of effort, two lengths of cord, a stick and a peg. It's so simple, it's unbelievable. This is the reason I made a video about it. To show how easy it is to remove a lot of campers’ biggest issue with this tent and thus making it a lot more useful and useable. I had a great time making this video. While playing with angels and shots, trying to get the best lighting. I enjoy making these videos. They are giving me the chance to learn more about filming than I would on the moors. I don't always have the time to spare. Whenever I can, I should learn more about my filming. It makes it far easier in the editing process and if you know me at all; you know I hate editing! The video went live just now over (1st December 2022 at 6pm GMT) on my YouTube channel . I hope you find it both interesting and informative and would love to read your views and o

Failed Camp at Cox Tor and the Importance of Coffee when Wild Camping

This camping excursion did not start well. The weather on this particular Sunday afternoon was pretty bleak, wet and windy. Having checked the forecast I knew I wanted to arrive on Dartmoor late in the day to avoid the worst of the weather so Dave and I left home hoping to arrive on the moors around 4pm, which should have given us enough time to climb Cox Tor, visit the trig point, take some photo's and video and get pitched up before sunset. During the drive up I started to get a bit of a headache, but I wasn't too worried as I knew that once my tent was up I could just chill out for the rest of the night. Once I had the car parked near Cox Tor I got my kit strapped to my back and Dave and I set off. It was then that I realised the headache was far worse, with pain behind my eyes and in the back of my neck, I was concerned I might be getting a migraine, my first in over 2 years. Onwards we trudged and the headache continued to worsen so I decided to make a coffee stop and this
